A Heart and Passion for Serving Older Adults

Meet Annette Kortright, MSW

Founder & Director

Love Lives Here was born from my heart and passion for serving older adults and my belief that growing older should never mean losing your sense of purpose, connection, or belonging.

Two women, one elderly with white hair and the other middle-aged with brown hair, smiling and hugging outdoors with trees and yellow foliage in the background.

As a social worker with many years of experience, including five years managing an adult day program that I helped build from the ground up, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how meaningful engagement, companionship, and genuine human connection can transform an older adult’s day—and how the right support can make a meaningful difference for caregivers and families.

Those experiences inspired me to create Love Lives Here Social Adult Day Center—a warm and welcoming home-away-from-home where older adults are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect; where they can stay active, build friendships, laugh, feel connected, and continue to experience purpose and joy

But my vision for Love Lives Here extends beyond the older adult who walks through our doors.

I understand that the journey of aging also affects the people who love and care for them. Caregivers may find themselves navigating new challenges as their loved one ages, making difficult decisions, and wondering where to turn for help.

As a social worker, I want Love Lives Here to be a resource for those caregivers and families—a place where they feel seen, heard, and supported and where they can be connected with helpful information and community resources as they navigate the journey of caring for someone they love.

At the heart of Love Lives Here is a simple belief: everyone deserves to age with dignity, feel connected, loved, and know that their life continues to have meaning and purpose. Because purpose doesn’t retire.

A Personal Note From Annette

Serving older adults is more than a profession for me—it is my calling and part of my purpose. It is where I come alive.

I have always believed that growing older does not diminish a person’s value or what they have to offer. Our older adults carry a lifetime of wisdom, experiences, stories, and lessons that deserve to be heard and shared. They still have the ability to inspire others, contribute to their communities, and make a difference in the lives of those around them.

Our older adults are not the forgotten generation. They are an important and valuable part of our families and communities, with so much still to share, teach, and give. They deserve to be seen, heard, celebrated, and reminded that their lives continue to have meaning and purpose.

They deserve laughter, friendship, connection, dignity, joy, and something meaningful to look forward to each day.

My hope is that when an older adult walks through the doors of Love Lives Here, they feel a true sense of belonging—a place where they are welcomed for who they are, encouraged to continue sharing who they are, and reminded that purpose doesn’t retire.

And when a caregiver walks through those same doors, I want them to feel supported too—to know there is someone who understands that caring for an aging loved one can be a journey, and they don’t have to navigate that journey alone.

Love Lives Here is more than the name of this program. It represents what I want every person who enters our doors to feel: You are valued. You belong. You still have something to give. And you are loved.

Welcome to your happy place.
